The Primary Program was a huge success! We had several hiccups in our fall schedule with General Conference, Stake Conference, special meetings to split the wards...there were about 4 weeks without primary, but the kids were awesome and wonderful and sang sweeter than angels. I am always amazed at how they pull it together and surprise us with their voices!
The song I mentioned in my last post, "He Sent his Son" (cs34), was really good! The Primary president sang the question and the children all looked at her and answered the question. It was one people are still commenting on! It would be a great one to implement for the 2010 primary program, since that one is on the list.
We started the program with the first verse of "Families can be Together Forever", with a flute/violin duet. My husband on the violin and son on the flute. It was a nice beginning.
There is nothing like finishing the program with "Families can be Together Forever". It really brings in the spirit and makes everyone feel the spirit. I wish I had insisted on the instruments at the end. I think it would have had a greater impact.
I had another flute duet with a mother/daughter that was fantastic also. It was "I'm trying to be like Jesus". They played the first time through and then a small girls group sang the first verse together with the mother playing (the daughter joined the group).
I am going to try and be better with this blog. I have so many ideas and visuals and have such a love for this calling, that I need to document my ideas and resources better. So! Early New Year's Resolution is to be better about posting! I have been so busy with life and some events beyond my control this fall, that it has made it hard to get it all done. That said, I am so blessed to still have this calling! I am excited about the Christmas season. We have been working on Christmas songs and learning new ones this week. It's the most wonderful time of the year.....!
